Recap of the 2004 Canadian Season
Saturday started out with a win over the University of Guelph team, which was a true test of our character, after being down 4-0 to start the game. We pulled together and had a convincing win 13-6, to finish initial pool play.
Our first cross-over game was against Lakehead, which we dominated, 13-2. Then came McGill, with us winning 13-5, giving us a bye into the quarter finals.
Quarter finals were against Carleton again, and we had a great win, putting us into the semi finals against the host McMaster team. McMaster came out pumped, and gave us a real tight first half, at which we were up 7-6. We had an outstanding second half, and took the game 13-8, giving us the birth in the finals that we had been looking for - a rematch with UBC, whom beat us last year in the final.
The weather turned very gusty for the final, but it never seemed to faze us like it did the UBC team, although it did make for some very long points. In a time capped game to 11, Tom Dowler (finals MVP) caught our final score with a spectacular lay-out grab.
The entire team played amazing all weekend long. Leadership on and off the field from Adam Melnyk, clutch playing by Owen Blain, Greg Seaton and Ryan Lee really made the difference for us.
2001: Third place
2002: Champions
2003: Second place
2004: Champions
2004 season: Undefeated 15-0 record.
